Is it easy to set up corporations in TCI?
Very easy and generally recommended for foreign investors. Please seek professional advice.

How would taxes work?
You don't pay taxes in Turks and Caicos on income earned, capital gains or property. However, you DO pay taxes in your local state or province. Speak with a foreign asset tax specialist.

What is the banking system like in TCI?
Three main commercial banks: RBC, Scotiabank and First Caribbean CIBC. Note these are separate from North American accounts. Private banks offer flexibility but typically require 50% LTV.

Where do I send my deposit and down payment?
All money is transferred via a lawyer's escrow or trust account — safe for all parties, much the same as North American transactions.

When is hurricane season and is it a real threat?
June to December. Poured concrete buildings held up extremely well during Hurricane Irma (Cat 5) in 2017. In 10+ years of living here, there has only been 1 serious hurricane.

What is better — Short term or Long term rental?
Both are very good right now. STRs do well due to expensive hotels and high tourist demand. There is currently a serious shortage of quality LTR options in safe, affordable areas.

Is it difficult to invest in TCI without living there?
Absolutely not. TCI encourages this type of investment. Some personal notarized documentation and financial declarations are all that is required. We have completed partnerships with investors who never visited.

How large is the island?
Population about 50,000 and it takes about 45–60 min to drive end to end. The beach can often be seen on either side of the highway — usually 1–2 mins away.

What is the crime like in TCI?
Petty crime exists everywhere, including Turks and Caicos. The tourist areas are very safe and protected. It's important to exercise caution and be vigilant wherever you are in the world.
